For years I have been a big fan of the AutoIndex PHP Script<\/strong><\/a> written by Justin Hagstrom. This is a powerful website directory indexer and file manager. I primarily use it to manage download directories. The problem is that Mr. Hagstrom has not updated this script since 2007. It is not natively responsive for small screens. Since most browsing is done on cell phones or tablets these days, I created a simple Bootstrap 3 responsive template to solve this problem. I also created a mod to change the format of the Search box in AutoIndex. I think there are other AutoIndex users that might benefit from this template and mod, so I am sharing them in this post.<\/p>\n

After installing the AutoIndex PHP Script<\/strong><\/a> on your website, you will need to make a few changes to implement the responsive1<\/strong> template, and the Search<\/strong> box mod if you choose.<\/p>\n

  1. Download and unzip the download file for the responsive1<\/strong> template on your local computer<\/li>\n
  2. Use a FTP program to upload the responsive1<\/code> directory to the templates<\/code> directory in AutoIndex<\/li>\n
  3. Edit the AutoIndex.conf.php<\/code> file to change to the responsive1<\/strong> template and then upload the edited AutoIndex.conf.php<\/code> file to the root AutoIndex directory on your website:
    \nChange\u00a0template .\/templates\/default\/<\/code>\u00a0to
    \ntemplate .\/templates\/responsive1\/<\/code><\/li>\n
  4. If you want to use the Search<\/strong> box mod, unzip that download file on your local computer and upload the three files to the classes<\/code> directory in AutoIndex on your website; you will see there are backup copies of the original Search.php<\/code> file, as well as the modified version.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you would like to include a website logo image or a text header, you will find those at the bottom of the global_header.tpl<\/code> file. Those two lines are disabled by default, but please customize them for your website.<\/p>\n

    Once you get everything uploaded to your website, test the results on both a cell phone and a computer. I hope you like what you see.<\/p>\n
